04/19/2017

Letter from Hon. Shaye Anderson, Minister of Municipal Affairs

"For all property owners and residents of Hill Spring,

In March 2015, as a result of a council request, the Minister of Municipal Affairs initiatd a viability review.  Since then the Viability Review team, a committee of representatives from the Village of Hill Spring, Cardston County, and municipal associations fo Alberta, has worked on developing a viability paln for the Village of HIll Spring. ...

The paln can be accessed at www.municipalaffairs.alberta.ca/viability-review#hillspring....

The Village of HIll Spring council has indicated it would prefer the Village of Hill Spring to remain a municipality, and subsequently, not proceed to a vote on the question of dissolution. A petition regarding this matterwas circulated and submitted to viullage council in 2016.  As well, my ministry received many phone calls and letters from Hill Spring residents throughout the fall of 2016, expressing the desire to vote on the matter of dissolution.

Municipal Affairs will hold a public information session on APRIL 25, 2017, to discuss the viability plan and options, and to provide residents, property owners, and community stakeholders with an opportunity to ask questions prior to the public vote on May 3, 2017.
